President’s Letter – December 2024

  • December 2024
  • Chuck Patten, President

We have received several calls from residents asking about the remaining evidence of the most recent hurricane in the form of large piles of botanical debris still on our roadsides here in The Forest. Inquiries to Lee County and FEMA about this problem had similar responses, telling us the issue was on a list; however, there was no timetable for their removal. With the Thanksgiving holiday upon us, it was decided to use funds from our disaster recovery account to have them removed. One of our landscaping vendors, Maverick, took the challenge and removed them.

Our community is a busy place now as those who left for cooler climes over the summer have returned. There are more cars and more landscaping vehicles present on our roads. What is evident are those who do not follow our speed limit, putting those who use our roads for recreation in danger of a tragedy. Please slow down.

The inspection of roads and sidewalks will commence soon. We will also be looking at the roofs, lawns, driveways, and landscaping of single-family homes. Everyone has a duty to keep their homes and independent associations well-kept. This supports the values of all of our residences.

The holiday season is a time for families and friends to gather in joyous celebration. It is hoped all will have the opportunity to do so. We have come through an extraordinary year, which brought two hurricanes and heavy rains from passing tropical storms. Thankfully, there were no tragedies or heavy destruction. Let’s hope Mother Nature will take a rest in 2025.

As a sign of respect for our national flag, please consider taking any flags that are severely faded or torn to an access control officer at the Main Gate. They will be taken to the local VFW station for proper disposal.

Best wishes to everyone for a happy and wonderful holiday season with family and friends.

Stay well,
Chuck Patten
